Strategy Guide ----------------- ----------------------------------- 7.1. Mission to the Village of Mist ----------------------------------- Main Objectives: Meet Cecil's Allies at Castle Baron. Find Hidden Supplies Around the Town. Cross the Outskirts to the Mist Cave. Battle the Mist Dragon. Deliver Destruction to the Village of Mist. Take Rydia to Kaipo. Fend of Baron's Soldiers. Reunite with a Feverish Rosa. Castle: Items Found: BombRing, 480G, Ether1, Tent. Once after the King dismisses Cecil, follow Kain straight to the side table for more conversation. Go south to F1. The stairs are immediately to the left and right of the door that leads down to the Black Magic Lab and the White Magic Lab. The mages that are there will have some tips about using magic. Press the wall switch that is behind the standing guard to the right in order to get some of the items from the chests. Go around the rest of the castle in order to get yourself familiarized with the surroundings for the later events here. After you are done exploring the castle, go to the northwest tower, and have an encounter with Rosa, and Cid while going along the way. Go to Cecil's room in the tower and get some rest. Town of Baron: Items FOund: 3 Potions, Eyedrops, 2 Tents, EageEye, MaidKiss, Ether1, HrGlass1. You will now nknow that Cecil is in charge of delivering the BombRing to the Village of Mist, and Kain will accompany you there. Talk to some of the folks in the Town of Baron and stop to get some gear in the items shop if needed. Don't get anything yet, because there are a lot of items to find. Check the pot right away to the right of the entrance to get a Potion, and find another Potion that is amongst the cluster of pots that is a bit further up. At the top of Baron, there will be a dancing girl entertainer next to a pool. Climb into the pool and follow the aqueduct down the pool straight to the other town walls. Search the outside pool to find a Tent and an HrGlass1. In order to stay at the Inn, it will cost you about 50G per night. Now barred from the castle, you might need to rest here if both Kain and Cecil are low on HP. Search the lower pot in order to get the final Potion for now, then go north. Search the mounted swords in order to open the secret door that is on the right. Open the chests inside to get the Eyedrops, a Tent, and an EagleEye. The building that is above the Item Shop which contains the Devil's Road entrance. This way is blocked, but you can, however, go down the steps and talk to the soldiers that are in the training room to learn more about combat. Rosa's house will be above the Inn, and Rosa's motheris not fond of Cecil. Get the Ether1 that is on the Bookcase, and a MaidKiss that is in the upper left pot. Now you are ready for your journey, and you never spent a cent of Gil. Outskirts of Baron: Items Found: Gysahl. Southwest of Baron will be a round-shaped forst that you will be able to enter. Chocobo Forest: Talk to any of the Chocobos that are yellow. You will be able to hop on them for a ride. We do not recommend this because you will miss you on valuable EXP and as well as Gil while making your way to the Mist Cave. Search the right side of the grassy field to get a Gysahl. Because your party is only allowed to carry a certain amount of items, you are able to ask the Fat Chocobo to take some of the weight off your back. Go north to the gap of the Chocobo Forest and search the area. You should "smell Chocobo in the air." From the pop-up window, use a Gysahl and the Fat Chocobo will appear. Feed it the items that you do not need to use right away, and make it barf whatever you fed it previously when you need them. Keeping the item sources open in your inventory is essential to running a great successful party. Other then that, you will run out of space for treasures. You can get Gysahls at the Items Shop, and make sure that you visit the Fat Chocobo often. Mist Cave: Items Found: 2 Potions, Tent, Eyedrops. Continue going through the cave, while collecting the treasures that are along the way. Once you are at the end, a voice will force you to go back. If you pick "Yes," you will then have to face off against the first boss of the game. Boss: Mist Dragon: HP: 465 EXP: 700 GIL: 200 ATK: 16 DEF: 5 Weak vs.: None Use Cecil's standard attacks as well as Kain's Jump Ability. After about three or four attacks, the Mist Dragon will transform into just that, mist. Do not attack the Mist Dragon whenit is in this form. If you do, then it will counter with it's own devastating Cold Mist attack. Use this time to heal your party if needed, and attack when the Mist Dragon resumes its dragon form. The Village of Mist: Exit the Mist Cave, and use a Tent if needed. Go east and into the Village of Mist, where the BombRing will release a horde of monsters. While the chaos is ensuing, Cecil and Kain will find a small child, which is no ordinary girl. During this battle, do not attempt to use any attacks or waste any items. This battle is really story-driven and will be over soon. Rydia will summon Titan, and cause a massive earthquake. After the fight, you will be back on the world map. Use an EagleEye if you ned to get a good fix on it. Kaipo: Items Found: Ether1. After entering kaipo, Cecil will go straight to the Inn. The manager there will be nice enough to let Cecil and Rydia stay for free. Baron's soldiers will catch up to Cecil during the night time. Try to defeat the General first because he will take off if you don't, and the reward is bigger then the three Soldiers. Rydia will join the party once the soldiers are defeated. Explore the town and chat with the people in it. Search the pots that are directly above the weapons shop in order to find an Ether1. Enter the top right house and talk with the woman that is inside. She will have some news that is really just chilling. Go up to the bedroom where Rosa will be found sick. She is suffering form desert fever. Talk to the old man in order to find out what to do in order to help out Rosa. --------------------------- 7.2. Rosa and the Sand Ruby --------------------------- Main Objectives: Find the Secret Treasures in the Water Cavern. Meet the Sage Tellah. Strike Down the Ocotmamm's Tenticles. Go talk to the man that is on the bridge. That is Tellah, and he will join the party that the Dark Knight and the Summoner will be able to help him get to Damcyan. Put extra armor on him, and continue on. The exit will be at the top of the level, but first go all the way to the top right, and down to the water. You are able to pass through the large waterfall and into an area that contains three chests. They contain a Life, X-Potion, and an Ether2. Follow the right stream all the way up in order to get an IronRing. Cellect the Bomb as well, and exit through the top left cave. Go north and climb down in the water. Climb up the steps in order to reach a potion, and move down. Get bak on dry land and pick up the Ether1 that is on the left. Move across the bottom and straight up to the save point that is on the far left. The party will automatically rest, and even better is that a Tent is not used. Save your progress, and go north to get the IceRod from the top chest. Swim through the water once again in order to reach the central exit. Go across the islets in order to get 580 Gil as well as a Bomb. There is also a secret passage that is on the left that will exit near the Potion at the top. If you continue going over to the right, then you will be able to find a Feather Hat. Get the Ether1 and the Notus from the left, and cross the chasm, then move south in order to find an HrGlass1 as well as the Dark Sword. Follow Tellah's advice at the exit. The part will need to move across a brief stretch of land that is outside. Monsters will come there at random (use the Bestiary above to see how to defeat them). Before you enter the north cave, use a Tent if needed and save your progress. Tellah will spot the villian at the bottom of the waterfall. The party will ride straight to the bottom. Quickly climb back to land and go south in order to get the Hades Helm and Hades Gauntlets. Cross the bridge and get the Hermes and the Hades Armor. Take a moment in order to make sure that you have all your new items equipped. Make sure that the party is also ready to fight the boss who guards the exit. Boss: Octomamm: HP: 2350 EXP: 1200 GIL: 500 ATK: 22 DEF: 0 Weak vs.: Shadow, Bolt Use Rydia and Tellah to cast Bolt1 each turn, and have Cecil attack. The Dark Knight will be dishing out the majority of the pain here, so make sure that Cecil is kept alive. While the Octomamm's eight tenticles are there it will take less damage, but as the tenticles are taken out, then more damage will be inflicted on the water beast. Once the battle ends, go through the falls. Damcyan Castle: Items Found: Tent, CrossBow, Feather (Hat), RubyRing, Ether1, Life, Soft, Eyedrops, Antidote, Potion, About 20 Holy (arrows), About 10 Iron (Arrows) Go north from the Water Cavern and straight to the kingdom of Damcyan. Red Wing Bombers will suddenly fly past and destroy the castle. It looks as if you are too late to save the Crystal. On the second floor will be a plethora of chests that have already been taken. The enemy did leave you a Tent. Continue going upstairs to witness a scene for Tellah. After delivering a beating to Edward, Tellah will leave the group (trust me this is a strange area here). Edward will go with both Cecil and Rydia once some sense is talked into him. Edwards skills are lacking (given that he is a prince and all), but he does have a cool hovercraft that can cross over shallow waters. The party will exit the castle, but go back in the castle right away. Go up to the third floor and use the healing pots that are on either side of the room. The one on the right will replenish MP, while the one on the left will get your HP to normal, and restore any status effects. Exit the castle's front entrance and go counterclockwise edging around the outside walls. Go into the side building and reap the royal treasures inside. Push the button behind the dead guard in order to open a secret door. Navigate through this unseen passage and through the first wall into the second cell. Get the Crossbow and the Feather Hat, then move to the next cell and get the RubyRing. Exit and take the stairs down to the first basement floor. All six chests in this room contains items, and three of the four pots will contain arrows. Use the top exit in the second basement floor in order to reach a room with a save point before you go south to fight the boss. Make sure that before fighting the creature that you find and equip Edward with the Lamia HArp, because it is a lot stronger then his Dreamer Harp. Boss: Antlion: HP: 1100 EXP: 1500 GIL: 800 ATK: 11 DEF: 3 Weak vs: None This si a tricky monster, but it will not attack you unless you use a physical attack on it. If you really want to play it safe, then Edward should probably hide (like he normally will do in battles) and Cecil should Parry each round. Use Rydia to call Chocobo each turn. This will do a massive amount of damage. Also, against the Chocobo's attack, the Antlion will not counter with it's most power attack. You will get the SandRuby once the Antlion is defeated. Use the Hovercraft to go back to Damcyan Castle, and use the western waters to go back to the lower desert. Park outside Kaipo, and go to the house where Rosa is resting. Use the SandRuby in order to cure her, and she will join the party. Edward will reunite with his long lost love during the night. A Waterhag, however, will join the reunion, and Edward will need to fight. This is mainly event-driven, basically just defeat it with normal attacks, and try not to use a lot of items. This monster will reward Edward with 100 Gil, and 800 EXP. ---------------------------- 7.3. Journey to Fabul Castle ---------------------------- Main Objectives: Climb the Peaks of Mount Hobs. There will be two "doorways" at the top; you need to take the left one. Get the four items there, and use the save point. Go back and use the right door. Get th Holy Arrows and go north. The party will stumble upon a monk who will be fighting off some enemies. After seeing what he can do, the party will join the fight. Boss: Mom Bomb: HP: 11000 EXP: 1900 GIL: 543 ATK: 30 DEF: 1 Weak vs.: None The first time you see this creature, you will be fighting what looks to be an ordinary Bomb with a hell of a lot of HP. After a few rounds though, the Mom Bomb will show it's true form. Start off with Rydia's Chocobo summon when you see this form. Once both sides inflict some damage, then there will be a warning of explosion. At this point, heal as many characters as you can because this will take off 60-100 HP in damage per character. After this, use Rosa's Pray ability and hope for an answer, because the Mom Bomb will end up splitting into 6 different Bombs and GrayBombs. Use the Monk's Kick as well as Cecil's Dark Attack. Take out the rest of the Bombs by individually targeting them with magic spells on each one, in order to avoid the detonation attack. Outskirts of Fabul: Bestiary: Name HP ATK DEF Notes Weak vs. GIL EXP Needler 115 28 2 Shoots Needles None 53 335 Yang will join the party after the fight, and you will need to go with him to Fabul. The party will cross a land bridge of sorts that is between the continnents that will curve a few different ways, and then will bend southeast. If you are lost, use Sight to try to get some help. Once you reach the castle that is surrounded by a huge moat, then you are at Fabul. Fabul: Items Found: ThorRage, Potion, Notus, Bomb, Bacchus, Tent, Hermes, Ether1, Demon (Shield), Silk Web, Death (Sword). The Inn in Fabul will cost 100 Gil, but there is a place that is free to rest elsewhere. Visit the Potion shops and the Weapons shop for various claws for Yang. make sure that you buy one of each so that the monk can exploit all possible weaknesses. Cecil's Demon equipment will also be on sale, buy it because you will need it for what is ahead. Once you reach the second floor, go into the south door first. Once you have emerged on the upper level of the Castle, you will be able to reacht he item-filled East and West Towers. Search the pots in the west tower for a ThorRage, a Potion, a Notus, and a Bomb. Namingway is in the bed in the second floor, and you can meet Yang's tough wife at the top. In the east tower, search the pots that are in the second floor pub to find a Bachus, and a Tent in the King's Chamber. You are also able to rest in the king's bed, so do so. Once the party is back to normal, then go back down into the throne room. Afte convincing the King that Baron will be coming after the Crystal, Cecil, Yang, and Edward will be waiting for the assault at the front gate. Yang, Edward, and Rydia will join Cecil in his vow to save her. Go back to the throne room and search the pot on the left to find a Hermes. Go to the right and press a secret floor switch in order to open the secret door. Follow the hidden corridor straight to a hidden chamber for treasure, which contains a Silk Web, a Demon Shield, and an Ether1. Go to the King's Chamber in the east chamber. The party will rest at the inn after the king directs them there, and they will determine that an airship is the only way to reach Golbez. Yang will ask for a sea vessel the next morningto sail to Baron, and the king will offer Cecil the Death Sword. Go to the Chocobo Forest, and summon the Fat chocobo and dump fomr extra items. Go to the ship that is docked in the bay that is east of Fabul. Yang's wife will wish you a Bon Voyage, but sadly, the trip will not go too well. Leviatan will come a wreck the ship, separating the party. Cecil will be on shore alone, and will quickly need to move to a nearby town. ------------------------ 7.4. To Become a Paladin ------------------------ Main Objectives: Confer with the Town Elder at the House of Prayer. Venture east to Mount Ordeals. Reunite with Tellah. Defeat the Monster Milon. Cecil Confronts His Dark Side. Mysidia: Be careful to whom you speak here because of Cecil's past follies that are in Mysidia. Some folks here still hold a grude, and it is not a good thing. They will also turn Cecil into either a pig or a toad. If this does happen, then talk to the same person again to turn back to normal. The Inn here will be way too expensive to even think about staying there. Go north into the massive House of Prayer. Once you are inside the House of Prayer, talk to the elder and ask for forgiveness. Cecil now needs to renounce the dark sword and become a Paladin. You will have two mages accompany you; they are Porom, and Palom, the twins. You will need to get the Holy Sword, which is located on Mount Ordeals. Porom and Palom will come with their own equipment, but it might be better that you buy better items for them for the trip up Mount Ordeals. The Armor Shop will help you out there, and make sure to get some Paladin gear for when you officially become a Paladin. The Weapon Shop will have Rods for both twins. Make sure to have Crossbows for them as well and Holy Arrows for the trip. Stock up on the items that are at the Items Shop as well. Porom and Palom will need to gain levels as well because they do not have enough experience. After getting the needed equipment, then go around the outskirts of Mysidia and get into a few battles to get their EXP and Levels up. Cecil's Dark Swords will be completely useless at this point, so make sure that the twins can pick up the slack by using their Crossbows and Holy Arrows. Continue climbing Mount Ordeals all the way to the top. Use the Save Point and a Tent to both save yout progress, and restore HP/MP. Porom should cast Cure repeatedly. Once the Ghasts are taken out, use Fire1 and Fire2 on Milon, as well as Cecil's physical attacks. Milon's counter will be Bolt after each time it is hit, so make sure that Porom heals the party after each turn when needed. Once the battle is over, go back to the Save Point and use another tent, and save your progress before going back. Once you have crossed the bridge, Milon's second form will make an appearence. Boss: Milon Z: HP: 3523 EXP: 3600 GIL: 2500 ATK: 46 DEF: 1 Weak vs.: Projectile, Holy, Fire Milon Z will start attacking from the rear, so make sure that your first character switches rows to make sure that he can protect the mages. Tellah and Palom should cast Fire spells on Milon Z each round. If Palom does not have Fire2, then use the Twin command, and make sure that Tellah heals the party. Milon Z will use Poison attacks, so make sure to use Cure often. If Tellah has Esuna, then use it each time poison is inflicted on the team. Go back to the save point and use another tent while saving your progress once again before entering the tomb at the summit of Mount Ordeals. Once inside, Cecil will become a Paladin with the Legend sword equipped on him. Before you can leave though, Cecil will need to pass a tricky test. Boss: Dark Knight: HP: ??? EXP: 0 Gil: 0 ATK: ??? DEF: ??? Weak vs.: None This battle is mainly story-driven, so there is no point of attacking here. The true nature of a Paladin is not about any aggression, so Cecil will be expected to know that by now. Don't attack the Dark Knight or use any items of any kind. Do nothing or use a Parry Command instead of attacking each round. Attacking the Dark Knight will end up getting Cecil killed, and the game will end, while if the Dark Knight takes off about 300 HP in damage without any fighting back, then the battle will end, and Cecil will pass the test. Cecil's redemption quest will now be complete. He is now a Level 1 Paladin with 600 HP. Cecil now also has the ability to use White Magic. If you have the Paladin Armor, then you should be able to get off the Mountain without any difficulty at all. Leveling up in Mount Ordeals will be great because Cecil will raise up about five levels after each of the first random battles. Tellah will be a greater asset to the party now because he has remembered all of his magic spells. After Cecil has the Paladin armor equipped, it will be a great idea to use Mount Ordeals to level up. After leveling up and exiting Mount Ordeals, go south into the Chocobo Forest, and ride a Chocobo back to Mysidia. This will make the trip easier. Talk to the elder in the House of Prayer again, to confirm that Cecil is now officially a Paladin. Palom and Porom will stay with the party while you make your return to Baron. Exit the House of Prayer and go into the building that is just above the Inn in Mysidia. This will be the entrance to Devil's Road, and it will be unsealed for your party's use. Your party will warp back to the Devil's Road, and straight back to Baron. -------------------- 7.5. Return to Baron -------------------- Main Objectives: Save Yang From Mind Control. Use Cecil to attack, and use Palom's most powerful spells while doing this, and the battle should be over quickly. After fighting Yang, he will regain his memory and rejoin the party. Everyone will stay for free at the Inn, and Yang will have a perk that he got for temporarily playing as the bad guy (by being brainwashed I will add). This is the BaronKey. You will now be able to unlock the Weapons/Armor shop in Baron. Yang did lose some of his gear while away from the party, and getting some of it here will be a real asset. After getting Yang his gear back, go to the far left side of Baron, and use the BaronKey in order to gain access to the waterways. On the Basement 4 Floor, go south to the first chamber and get the items that are in the three chests. Cross all the inlets to the next area. On the Basement 3 Floor, go into the water and go south into the hidden passage, This will take you to HrGlass1. Go through the connecting series of paths in order to get the items while trying to reach the large central chamber. There are also some hidden paths at the bottom of the large area, and near the rocks that is to the right that will lead to the exit. On the Basement 2 Floor, go down the stairs and go left through a secret passage which will reach a chest that contains an Ether1. On the Basement 1 Floor, find the save point. Yes the arms can do a lot of damage, but taking them out while the body is still there will cause them to regenerate after a few turns. Once the body is gone, they can be taken out without regeneration. Make sure that Tellah casts extremely powerful spells on the body, to make sure that it casts Wall on itself. In order to counter this, have Tellah cast Wall on anorther party member, then have Tellah and Porom attack this ally with magic. This will cause the magic to bounce off the wall and do series damage to Baigan. Before going into the throne room, go back into Cecil's room and have a rest. Baigan will be nothing compared to the next boss fight. You will also be able to access the east side of the castle, where the royal treasure is located. Go along the corridor that is on the east side of the castle. Press the wall switch in order to open a secret passage. Go along the invisible corridor and go downstairs into a room that contains two Unihorns, two Ether1s, and two Lifes. Go to the northeast tower, and the party wil find two Bacchus as well as two Hermes there on the first floor. There will be an Elixir and a passage that is sealed by an invisible force in the basement. The pots are empty on the second floor, however the chests will contain two HiPotions. The third floor will contain some chests, and there are still two Tents and an Ether1 that is left for the taking. One of the pots will contain another Ether1. Once you have gotton all the treasures and have rested, go into the throne room and confront the king, King Baron. Boss: Cagnazzo: HP: 5312 EXP: 5500 GIL: 4000 ATK: 44 DEF: 2 Weak vs.: Bolt Make sure that Yang has his BoltClaws on and use the Power ability throughout this battle in order to make powerful hits. Have Tellah and Palom cast Bolt2 or Bolt3 every turn. These spells will do the most amount of damage, and they will also prevent Cagnazzo from doing his most powerful attack, the Wave attack. When you see Cagnazzo have a water barrier around it, that will mean that it is preparing for the Wave attack. Bolt attacks as well as spells will do even more damage. Have Porom cast Cure spells often, while Cecil alternates between both attacking and healing. When Cagnazzo goes into thet Turtle Defense, it will reduce all of the attack effectiveness. Use this opportunity to heal, replenish MP, and use Parry depending on the situation until Cagnazzo decides to play again. After the battle is over, Cid and Cecil will reunite, and Palom and Porom will end up leaving the party. Cid will join the party, and will bring everybody to the Enterprise. There is a secret hangar inside the castle. Now that the airship is now at your use, there will be a few places you can visit before going straight to Troia. Village of Mist: Items Found: 3 Bombs, Tiara, Prisoner (Clothes), RubyRing, Change (Rod) Search the grassy areas to find three Bombs. You can enter one of the buildings where you can enter a large fireplace and into a secret passage to the right. You will find a Tiara there, as well as Prisoner Clothes and a RubyRing. A hidden space in a wal will turn into another secret passage that will take you south. There will be a chest there that will contain a Change Rod. Mythril Village: Items Found: 5000 Gil, Mythril (Dagger), Mythril (Staff). Make sure you position the Enterprise directly over Fabul, then go south until you see a land mass that looks like a fox head. The town here on this island will be one of the most expensive in this game. The Inn will cost you 500 Gil, and mythril is also just as expensive (see the shop lists section 6.), make sure that you search the grassy areas in order to find 5000 Gil, a Mythirl Dagger, and a Mythril Staff. Agart: Items FOund: Boreas. If you have a lot less gil at this point, then Agart will be an advantage to you. To get to Agart, position the Enterprise directly over Baron, and then go south until you see an island with a few forests and a town that is located next to a large mountain range. The residents that are here are descendants of Dwarfs. The shops here will carry affordable weapons as well as armor that is made from Iron. The Inn here is also cheap. The Item shop is located inside the Inn, and the local people there will contniue to give hints about the underworld, and the accessibilty around this area. Search the area of grass to the northwest of the sacred well to find a Boreas. You can look into the telescope and see the moon from the observatory. --------------------------- 7.6. Confront the Dark Elf. Smite the Dark Dragon. Return the Earth Crystal to Troia. Prepare to Save Rosa. Troia: Items Found: 1000 Gil, Ether1, Ether2, Illusion. This kingdom will be buried within a forest that is in the west continent. The castle as well as the town are located near the mountains that are amidst around trees in the area. Landing the Enterprise will be a bit hard to do, but it can be done. Like Baron, there will be a town that is outside a castle. Go around the town to find some items as well as some information about the town. If you enter the shops here, there will be some non-metalic items found here. There is a reason for that. In order to find the hidden items in Troia, climb into the pool and go past the swimmers right into the moat. Follow the moat right to the pool at the top, where you will see Namingway practising his backstroke. Climb out of this pool and go onto the small green aera. Go into the secret path that is to the left. The Illusion, 1000 Gil, and both Ether1 and Ether2 will be here. Go to the Pub located right above the item shop. A man that is near the secret door will ask you for a pass. If you want to know what is going on in there, talk to the woman that is dressed in red and yellow. Buy a pass for about 10000 Gil. This will allow you to enter the Court of Kings whenever you want to. The dancers there will make you part of the act. Go to the top right cornre of Troia and enter the Black Chocobo Farm. Once you are inside, examine the skull in order to open the secret door, then go down the stairs. Talk to the people that are there about the Black Chocobos. They will also give clues to the Chocobo Village that is located to the north. Troia Castle: Items Found: TwinHarp, Bacchus, 2 Tents, 2 HiPotions, 2 Ether1s, 2 RubyRings. Go into the castle going north until you have reached the chamber that is outside the Crystal Room. The eight clerics of Troia reside there. Talk to all eight of them in order to find out about the missing Earth Crystal. Go back to the foyer that is outside the clerics' chamber, and enter the left door. Go into the top left tower, where you will find Edward resting inside. He is wounded and really sick, but that will not stop him from giving Cecil the TwinHarp. This item is really important in order to complete the next quest. Troia, like all the other castles, will have a lot of treasures that will help aid your quest along. Make sure that you get them now because only half of them will be available to you for when you return the Earth Crystal. From the foyer door, go through the eastern door, and go into the northeast tower. Once inside, go down the center set of stairs and search the lower right pots there to get a Bacchus. Go back to the top and go down the right stairs. Step onto the center floor switch and enter the left chamber. As you make your exit, the next secret door will automatically open for you. As you collect the remaining items, the secret doors will continue to open until you reach the end. This will enable the party to use metallic weapons as well as restore the party's health in the process. Make sure that you take time to equip everyone with their strongest armor and the weapons of course, and then engage the real battle with the Dark Elf. Once the second battle begins, cast Tellah's wall spell on as many characters that you can get it on. It will be easier to do it this way because the Dark Elf will damage itself with its own magic. Use Yang's Power attack, as well, have Cid and Cecil attack normally. Make sure to use DietFoods in order to cure Pig Status. After the boss fight, get the Earth Crystal and then leave the cave. The enemies can now be defeated more easily while you are exiting the cave as well. This is because the Magnetic field is now gone. Yang can defeat the Ogres with one hit using his Fairy Claw that is also found in the cave. Make sure that you fight all battles to get your levels up for all of your characters just for the events that are coming. EXP: 15000 GIL: 11000 ATK: 86 DEF: 4 Weak vs.: None The beginnig of this battle will be part of the story, in which case Golbez will cast Hold Gas. This will immobilize the entire party, but if you are lucky, then Kain will be in mid jump, and will be unaffected by this move. Golbez, in the meantime, will summon Shadow, a creature that can employ a special attack "Demolish" just three times in a row, which will KO some of your characters. Just as Shadow is about to finish off Cecil, Rydia will show up for the fight. She is a little older as well. Immediate open Rydia's call menu, where you will notice that she learned a lot of summons while she was away from the party. Call Titan to get a lot of massive damage done on both. Cecil's attacks will also do a lot of damage in the rest of this battle. Golbez should be finish in no time. The only thing to survive the battle with Colbez is his hand, and the Crystal will be stolen as well. After Cecil and the rest of the party apologizes to King Giott, he will ask the party to infiltrate the tower of Babil and get the seven crystals back. The Dwarven Tank Army will create a distraction making it easy for you to sneak inside. In the hall that is below the throne room there will be stairs to both the left side and the right side. The east stairs will take you to the Weapon and Armor Shops. Go right between the two counters and enter the area that is called the Rally-Ho-Pub (More on this in the Secrets Section). The stairs that are on the right side will go straight to the east tower. You will find a Dwarf Axe on the third floor, and while you are on the third floor, you can find a hidden passage to reach some pots that are near the bottom. Search them to get a Bacchus, and go up to the fifth floor. Navigate through the hidden passages through the brick walls in order to open the chests. These chests contain a Strength Glove, an Elixir, and an HrGlass2. Go back to the hall outside the throne room, and go to the left stairs on this floor. These stairs will lead to the Inn and the Items Shop. It will cost 600 Gil to stay in the Inn, but you will be able to find another spot where you are able to rest for free. Search the pot to the left of the counter in order to find 5000 Gil, then go upstairs to the west tower. On the fourth floor, there will be a secret passge that is on the right that will take you to another pot. Search it in order to get another Bacchus. Go through the hidden passages on the fifth floor in order to reach an Elixir, a HiPotion, a BlkBelt, and an Ether1 that is near Namingway's Position. Go back to the second floor near the Inn and the Items Shop, and go left to the stairs. On the Basement 1 Floor, go past the Infirmary, and talk to the first guard. He will open a secret passage for you. Move to the right and search the pots to get three Gysahls. Go up the carpeted stairs, and summon a Fat Chocobo. Get as many items as you need out of the inventory and go into the secret passage. Go through the caverns that are under the castle, and make sure not to miss the three Cabins that are in the chests at the end of the passage. Go down into the Dwarven Base, where some preparations for the Tower of babil assault is underway. Go through the bottom doors and drink from the water of Life in order to restore HP and MP. There are a few enemies here in the tower that are weak to Ice, so make sure that Rosa has Ice Arrows, and use Rydia's Ice Spells. You can also call on Shiva to dispatch the groups of FlameDogs, FlameMen, and the Stoneman that are further up the tower. Floor 2: The two extra doors that are at the bottom and right side of this floor will lead to chests that contain treasure monsters. Each one will be an Alert Drone (which by reading the notes in the Bestiary section, will call monsters once it is hit). Make sure that you destroy this thing with one hit by using Kain's Jump Attack or Yang's Power Attack. Defeat all the Alerts on this floor, and you will get the deadly IceSpear and IceBrand weapons (needed here too, which is perfect). Floor 3: Go down to the lower right door first, and this will lead to a section of the fourth 4 in which case you can get the Carcher Bow as well as the Notus. Go back down to the third floor and navigate to the lower left door. Floor 4: A save room will be directly across from the west entrance. At this late stage of the game, you are better off using Cabins instead of Tents in order to heal your party entirely. Go north and follow the twisting path straight to a room where you will need to fight another Alert in order to get the IceArmor. Below this room will be another chamber where you can fight for another item, the IceShld. The lower right room will be empty. Floor 5: The door that is in the center will be locked, and you need to defeat the boss in order to get the key. The chest that is on the left will contain a Boreas, and the far right chest will contain a HiPotion. If you end up defeating Balnab first, then and only then will you see the doctor hop into another creation called Balnab-Z. After a few rounds, Lugae will end up accidentally detonating Balnab-Z. The fastest and most painless way to defeat these two here will be to use Cecil, Kain, and Yang on Parry, while you have Rosa heal the party, and have Rydia repeatedly summon Titan. Titan should only need to pound the doc and the bot a few times in order to defeat both. Boss: Lugaborg: HP: 9321 EXP: 10101 GIL: 4000 ATK: 86 DEF: 1 Weak vs.: None If you lost a character during the last battle, then getting the person back on the right track will be a difficult task because, Lugae will transform into a robot skeleton (named Lugaborg), and cast Poison on the whole party. Antidotes will be pointless because the doctor will end up removing the status after a few turns. Make sure that you attack with your turns, and use Rosa for Cure spells in order to keep HP up. Make sure that Yang has on his BoltClaws, and have Rydia call on Ramuh, or cast Bolt2. Once Lugaborg removes the Poison status, make sure that you use Rosa's Aim ability in order to fire Bolt Arrows at Lugaborg. While Dr. Lugae starts to disappear, he will warn the party about the super cannons are about to take out the dwarven tank army that is outside. Get the TowerKey and go back down to the fifth floor. Use the Save Point along the way. Go to the locked door, and before using the TowerKey, you will need to take off any items that you might want to keep from Yang. Once you are inside, you will fight a group of Dark Imps. Once the fight is over, go back down to the first floor, where Golbez will try to take out the party with a trap. After the series of events that occurs, you will be back on the Enterprise and over Agart in the regular world. Castle Baron: Land outside of Baron, and go into the castle. Find Cid's assistants in the eastern courtyard, where the engineer has instructed them to modify the Enterprise with a hook to carry the hovercraft on. Rubicant, the demon, has successfully destroyed the castle. There is nobody around the castle walls right now. The treasures that are let behind here will be yours for the taking to aide your quest. The easiest items that you can get are the ones that are closest to the throne room. Go north through the castle, and get the HiPotion that is along the way. In the royal chamber, there are secret passages that are to the left and right which will lead back to the previous chamber meaning that five items there can be collected for you. Go back to the courtyard and go up the left stairs, and under the portcullis, then enter the west tower. There is a secret passage that is just inside the entrance which will lead to a chest which is to the right. A Staleman as well as four Skulls will pop out. Defeat them in order to get the Sleep Sword. Go to the second floor to find a Bacchus in one of the top three pots. Go straight down from the stairs and enter another secret passage that will get you some Mute Arrows, and 10000 Gil in the right chests. Next, go into the alcove to the left and it will lead you to a Kamikaze. Go to the east tower, then go to the top of the first floor, then take a left for a secret passage that will take you to a coffin on this side. Go up the stairs and hit the switch in order to open up another secret door which will take you into the next room. Get around the staircase by going down and around it in order to enter the room, and take the items that are on the left. Search the pots to get a Hermes, and move directly to the right to another secret passage which will take you to a chest which seems like you cannot get it. Defeat two BlackCats and a Lamia and you will get the BloodSpr, a spear which will drain HP from all but undead enemies, and give it straight to Kain. For undead enemies, it will have the opposite effect. Go down the black hole that is in the floor to get an HrGlass2. You will end up in the basement, where it is your next destination, if you walk straight. As you are moving downward, there will be two Ether1s to the left. Opening the right chests will put you in a fight against three MadOgres, which will try to crush your party. Do not use any Summons against these creatures. Defeating them will get you an Ag Apple, which will be well deserved. Follow the path straight to the right, which will take out outside the castle. Your next destination will be to Cave Elban. Find a secret passage that will lead to a chest that contains two Stalemen. After defeating them, you will get the BloodSwd. as you near the top exit, a battle will take place between the demon Rubicant and the young hot-headed-Elban prince. Pay attention as to what occurs during this battle because this will be the key to defeating Rubicant later on. After that battle, the party will rush to the aid of Edge, the ninja, and he will join the party. The bad news is that Edge is currently at level 25 with about 790 HP, which will be way below the recommended levels for the party. Before you go back into the Tower of Babil, fight the monsters that are around the cave to get his level up by about ten levels to level 35. Use Rosa to heal and revive party members, while have Cecil and Kain equipped with their Ice weapons, while having the dragoon jump every turn. Edge's unleashed fury will teach him two new ninja techniques as well. Casting a spell will be trickly here. Rydia's Ice3 spell will do up to about 9999 HP on the fire demon Rubicant. When the cloak is closed, it will obsorb that amount. This is the same with Edge's Flood spell, but with less HP taken off or restored. Do not cast either one until the cloak reopens. AS you go into the chamber that has Golbez's seven crystals, a trap door will drop you right back into the Underworld section of the Tower of Babil. Get the HiPotion which is above your landing position, then move down through the tower to the sixth floor. Go to the right side of this floor and get another HiPotion. Go into the Hangar that is on the left, and you will commandeer an enemy airship and name it the Falcon. Dwarven Castle: Items Found: Necklace. King Giott will entrust you with his daughter's Necklace as well. Go down to the infirmary in Basement Floor 1, where Cid is inside laid up in bed. Cid will be unable to lay still because there is an airship that needs to be fixed. He will modify the Falcon so that it will be able to cross magma. The Weapons and Armors Shops here will be connected by a secret passage, and you can also buy Diamond Armor here. Edge can also buy another Ashura to match the one found earlier. The Chain Whip will be stronger then the current weapons that Rydia has, so if you can afford it, buy it. In the Item Shop, each clerk will have a different list of goods behind their counter. Stock up on anything here, and make sure that you pack as many Remedy medicines here as you can. The top left building that is in Tomra will hold the towns treasures, and the dwarves there will allow you to take it all. Search the chests and pots that are along each side to find all the items that are listed above. The Sealed Cave will be the one that is located just outside of Tomra, but you will not need to go there just yet. There are still a few more places that you will need to visit before taking on the that task. Kokkol's Smithy: Items Found: Remedy, HiPotion, SomaDrop. Everytime that you go onto a new floor, make sure that Rosa casts Float on the entire party. If you do not, then the party will end up taking some damage if they step onto a green panel. If you have a great stock of Remedy items, then this area will be good for you to take on. In the Sylvan Cave, you will encounter Malboros, which as you can see by the notes in the Bestiary section, the attacks it does. Before you get a turn, these creatures will more then likely affect one or maybe even multiple status impairments on your party. Do not waste Rosa's MP by casting Esune because then you will not be able to cast Float. This is where the Remedy comes into play. Use the most opowerful monsters, like Titan and Ifirit, to dispose of these creatures. There are a lot of items that can be found here, as you can tell in the items found list. Look around for secret passages in order to get to these treasures. In a good amount of cases, you will need to fight the monster that will pop out of these chests. The rewards, like the MageMash Dagger, the ElvenBow, and the Avenger Sword will be worth it. With these items, you should be able to level up your characters with ease. Make your way through to the home of the slyphs that is located at the bottom of the cave. Yang's weapons can be found in the chest to the right. The slyphs will not let you have Yang back into your party, but Yang can still be helpful to the party. See the secrets section for details on that. Once inside, Rydia will mention that this is where she spent her time after the disaster that happened wway earlier in the game. Like in Sylvan Cave, make sure that you cast Float on the entire party. The floors here are the same as the floors in Sylvan Cave. Keep going upwards in order to get a Life. Go into the secret passage from there in order to reach an Ether1. Most secret passage in the Cave of Summons should be visible to you. Once you reach the Basement Floor 3, search the bottom right corner to get a secret passage that will lead west and to three chests that are in an enclosed room. Follow that same path you took back to the far right, then go further up to the top. The chest at that top will end up springing out five Warriors, and defeating them will get you the Defense Sword. Cecil will have this weapon for the majority of the rest of the game. The gray pad that is in the center of the room will transfer you to the Land of Summons. All of the people in the Land of Summons will know Rydia from her previous visit here. At the top of the screen, you will notice that a teleport pad will block you from getting a chest. All you need to do is just use the pad top teleport out of there, and then use that same teleport pad to teleprt back to the same location where the chest is. This chest will contain the Rat Tail, which is very important, and can be exchanged later. Continue getting all the items around the area until you have reached the 6000 Gil that is at the bottom of the screen. Go directly upward to the top platform in order to find a hidden teleporter which will take you down to the treasure level. On that level, you can get the Yoichi Bow, as well as ten Yoichi Arrows, an Elixir, and an Ether2. There is another hidden teleporter on this level, which is south of the gray pad, but it will exit the Cave of Summons. Do not step on that teleporter until you have completed what you came here to do. The teleport pad that is located near the Rat Tail will take you to the heart of the summon monsters' home. Make sure that you talk to all the monsters here to get important clues. The chests can be opened in the top left house, where a save point is also located. If the party needs to recover, then use a Cabin. The Inn here will be expensive at 1200 Gil, so that is not worth it. The Chocobos that are on either side of the Inn will run the Item Shops. Like the shop in Tomra, this place will sell almost everything that you want. Check out the Weapon and Armor Shops as well, to see what is there to buy. The best gear can be bought here. Above the Weapon Shop will be the Library. Once inside, go down the stairs and search all of the bookshelves to get clues about the King and the Queen, as well as tips on Odin. Go onto the teleport pad in order to get taken to the royal chamber. The King and Queen will remember Rydia, but they will only become her summons if, and only if, the party can defeat them in combat. With this being said, make sure that you use physical attacks as well as summon magic, particularly Titan, which will do a good amount of damage to Asura. Use Rosa to heal the group as well when needed. Make sure that the Wall remains active until Asura submits, and is one of Rydia's summons. After you defeat Asura, go back to the save point, and use a Cabin while saving your progress. Try not to take on the King if you do not have max HP/MP. Boss: Leviatan: HP: 50,001 EXP: 28,000 GIL: 0 ATK: 174 DEF: 5 Weak vs.: Bolt Note: You will need to know Leviatan before you can learn another important summon, Bahamut. It will be better to do this one before going into the Sealed Cave. Make sure that Kain and Cecil do not have any ice gear on, or they will have major damage done to them with Leviatan's Ice2 spell. Make sure that the party has on Bolt weapons, because they are able to do a lot of damage. Leviatan will mainly launch water attacks. This will do damage arouund 400+ in HP each round. Make sure that Rosa casts Cure4 often in order to keep the party going. Make sure that Edge performs Blitz, while Rydia casts Bolt3. If you want to call Ramuh, then you can, but it is not worth it considering that Bolt3 will do more damage, and it is quicker to perform. Once the battle is over, then Rydia will get one of her most powerful summons in the game in awhile. All the doors that are in the Sealed Cave will end up turning into TrapDoors when you try to open them. Once a TrapDoor suffers more then 4000 HP, then it will turn into a Mantcore. Mantcores will be tougher to deal with then the TrapDoors. As well, they will give you less EXP and Gil into your pocket. If you prolong a battle against a TrapDoor then you might risk losing a party member to the Dmension attack the TrapDoor does. Make sure that when you battle one of these creatures that you plan attacks around the 5000 HP that the TrapDoor has. Make sure that you were it down so that the last shot can take over 1000+ HP killing it. Navigate your way to the bottom of the Sealed Cave, and go into the Crystal Room, and get the Dark Crystal. Once you exit the chamber, you will end up facing one of the most deadliest bosses that is in the game. Boss: EvilWall: HP: 28,000 EXP: 23,000 GIL: 8000 ATK: 84 DEF: 3 Weak vs.: None In order to have the easiest time with the EvilWall, make sure that you have Rydia summon Leviatan, and Edge throw several of his ninja weapons to throw at the impossible being. Make sure that you have gotten the Fuma here, because it is crucial. If you do not have it, then reset the game, and get it before taking on the EvilWall. First thing to do is make sure that Rosa casts Slow on the EvilWall while Rydia summons her new summon Leviatan (as I mentioned before). Have Kain and Cecil perform regular attacks, and do not use Kain's Jump Attack because it will not work out. Make sure that Edge throws the Shurikens that you found in Cave Elban, and the Fuma that is in the Sealed Cave. If you done it right, then the EvilWall will be defeated in approximately three rounds. If you do not defeat the EvilWall before it reaches your characters, then it will end up crushing your allies each turn after. The gme will not end until all characters are gone, so make sure that you cast Life1 (or if you want to take a risk, then use Asura, the other new summon), or option two, use a Life on one of the dead characters. Do not worry about restoring your characters back to full health. Try to prolong the battle long enough so that you can summon Leviatan once or twice more. After the battle against the EvilWall, remove any equipment from Kain that you want to keep, then return to the entrance of the Sealed Cave. Golbez will end up taking control of Kain one more time, and the Dark Crystal will be stolen. Go back to the Dwarven Castle, and go straight to King Giott. He will tell you to go back to Mysidia, where the Lunar Whale is suppose to appear. Cid will mosify the Falcon for you so that it can break through the planets surface. You can now travel between the surface and the Underworld anytime you want. ------------------------------- 7.11. Mysidia: Fly the Falcon to the northeast corner of the Underworld and position it directly over the black geyser. Press X in order to transport it to the world above. Fly the Falcon east of Agart until you have reached Mysidia. Talk to the Elder, and the Mysidia's will raise the Lunar Whale up from the ocean floor. In order to enter the Lunar Whale, move straight to the lower portion of it and press X. The first room inside will be the control room. Use the top panel in order to fly across the world, and touch the central crystal in order to be transported straight to the moon. There, you will end up learning about the mysteries that will face you. At the bottom of the Whale, there will be a Fat Chocobo, which will help you with the item needs. Go east, then take the bottom fork that is in the path down through the cave back to the surface, and go west to the cave under the Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace: The left and right side of the entrance will be pods that restore both HP and MP, and will also remove any status effects you have. Make sure that you use them, and approach the dais that is in the center chamber, where you will meet FuSoYa. FuSoYa is the guardian of the Lunarians, and will be at level 50 with about 1900 HP. He also has a full complement of both Black and White spell, and knows the spell Regen, which can be cast on the entire party, and can gradually restore HP through a battle. Make sure that FuSoYa is placed in the back row with Rosa and Rydia, while Edge and Cecil are in the front row. Hummingway's Home: Fly directly south from the Crystal Palace until you see a cave that is set into a basin. This is the home of the Hummingway's. Land near the slope on the upper portion of the outer ring, and cross the surface straight to the cave's entrance. When you are on Basement Floor 1, go directly down from the entrance straight to the bottom of the screen. Once there, get and equip the Genji Gloves. Go directly to the right and search for a hidden passage that will lead through a block straight to the Genji Shield. Make sure that you get the Genji Helm located on Basement Floor 2, on the right. As you are going across the narrow bridge straight to the north, you will come across the first of three Behemoths. There monsters are really tough, and will resemble minor bosses in terms of their strength. Unlike any Behemoth that you will encounter later in the game, these three you will not be able to run from. When you make it to Basement Floor 3, there will be the other two Behemoths that await you along the narrow path to Bahamut's throne. You wil be advised to use the Exit spell after the last Behemoth to leave Cave Bahamut. Rest up in the Lunar Whale before going back in. Bahamut will be an incredibly tough boss. Defeating the Behemoths: Battles with the three Behemoths will be like taking on mini-bosses, like I mentioned earlier, you will not be able to escape from battle. They are also be resistant to summon magic, but both Mist Dragon and Leviatan will be extremely effective against them. Aviod casting spells like Meteo or Holy, because Behemoths will counter with a Storm spell that will have your party down less then 10 HP. If you have defeated Leviatan before visiting Bahamut, there will be a different dialogue, which is that Rydia will not be able to learn Bahamut until after she has learned Leviatan. Once Bahamut challenges the party to a battle, make sure that each character has used either a MoonVeil or a StarVeil, and make sure that Rosa casts Wall. Bahamut will count down from five, then will launch MegaFire after zero. Characters that are not protected by MoonVeil or StarVeil, or Wall, will be Ko'ed instantly, while those protected will reflect the attack back at Bahamut. If there is more then one character that ends up reflecting the attack, then Bahamut will damage himself by 9999 HP. Meanwhile, resurrect the fallen allies, and cast Wall on them. Make sure that you do this every four rounds, in case Wall wears off. Attack Bahamut with both weapons and Magic whenever you can, which wil help speed up the finish of the battle. After Bahamut nukes himself a few times, the battle will be finished and Rydia will now have Bahamut as a summon. Once you encounter a Searcher, make sure that you have all of your characters Parry until you can have either Rydia or FuSoYa use Bolt3 on it. In order to face Rydia, go back to Castle Baron and go to Basement Floor 1 in the east tower of the castle. The ghost of the former King will appear and tell you to come back after going to the Land of Summons. If you have followed this guide, and went to the Land of Summons, then then the battle with Odin will start. Make sure that you are at the Suggested Levels before you enter the core. Each character should gain about ten levels within the Subterrane in order to be ready for Zeromus. Where you see pillars, there will be extremely tough monsters, which will give your party their Ultimate Weapons. These guys can be considered like bosses. The White Dragon will take the party down to less then 10 HP with the Storm Attack. After you defeat the White Dragon, you will get Edge's Murasame. Boss: Wyvern: HP :60,000 EXP: 64,000 GIL: 0 ATK: 160 DEF: 5 Weak vs.: None When you are on Basement Floor 6 of the Lunar Subterrane, move through the hidden passage that is located on the left to the bottom of that area. The teleport pad that is on the far right will move the party to the stairwell that is on the left. Go up the stairs until you reach a save point. Beyond that save point will be Basement Floor 5, where the Wyvern lives. This will be a tough battle, and one of the toughest in the game. The Wyvern is a super version of Bahamut, and you will be able to use Bahamut to defeat it. Before you get a turn, there is the likelyhood that one or more characters will be killed in the battle, because of the MegaFire attack. Immediately have Rosa cast Cure4 on the survivors, and have the other characters use StarVeil or MoonVeil. After that, have Rosa resurrect the other members using Life2, and have the others use StarVeil and MoonVeil on them once they are back in action. If the Wyvern casts Wall on itself, the reflect Rydia's Black magic off one of the party members in order to strike the Wyvern. Make sure htat Rydia also summons Bahamut, while the other party members helps finishes the Wyvern with their regular attacks. After you have defeated the Wyvern, you will get Cecil's RagnaRok. This will be the most powerful of Cecil's Holy Swords. Equip it on him, and see how high up his attack power goes. Boss: Plague: HP: 33,333 EXP: 31,108 GIL: 550 ATK: 146 DEF: 5 Weak vs.: Projec The lair to the Plague will be on basement Floor 7, and it will be right next to a save point. Make sure that you record a save before you go into fight the Plague. The Plague will start the battle off by casting Doom on all of your party, starting a countdown. make sure that you have Rosa Fire Artemis Arrows while Kain attacks or Jumps with a spear to help against the Plague's weakness with projectiles. Rosa's Holy Spell will also do great against the Plague, and have Rydia summon Bahamut as many times as possible before the countdown hits zero. Also, have Edge throw something powerful, but not the Excalibur, or the Defense Sword. They will be needed for later on. If it looks as if you will not be able to defeat the Plague before the countdown hits zero, then KO a party member and bring that person back to life. Do this at when the countdown has about 4 left on it. Whenever a Ko'ed party member is brought back to life, the Plague will cast Doom once again and it will start the entire party's countdown once again. If this is not enough, then repeat the process again, and use Life or Life1 to revive the character with about ebough HP so that they can be KO'ed again if needed. After defeating the Plague, you will get Kain's HolyLnce. Boss: Lunasaurs: HP: 23,000 each EXP: 29,500 each GIL: 0 ATK: 144 DEF: 4 Weak vs.: None There will be two Ribbons which are protected by Lunasaurs on Basement Floor 7 as well, and it is right next door to the Plague. When the Lunasaurs cast Wall as protection against magic, make sure that you have Rosa or Rydia reflect Fire and Holy Spells off of one of your allies to strike the Lunasaurs. Also, Rosa should also prepare Cure4 often, because the Lunasaurs will have a few tricks up their bones. By the time that one Lunasaur is defeated, the Wall might be off the other one, so make sure that Rosa casts Slow on the remaining one, making the battle easier, and any Ko'ed characters can be brought back to life. Have the oter characters attack like normal, and after the battle you will get the Ribbons. Go back to the Save Point and save your game before going forward. Boss: Ogopogo: HP: 50,000 EXP: 61,000 GIL: 0 ATK: 150 DEF: 4 Weak vs.: None The white pillars that are located on the Basement Floor 8, in the moon's crystal coore mark, will be the place where the you will get Edge's Masamune. Just a you start to walk away from the treasure, Ogopogo will attack. This is a super version of Leviatan, and is tougher then Wyvern, because the same reflective strategy will not apply here. Make sure that Rydia summons Bahamut every turn, while you have Rosa trying to keep the party alive. Edge should throw any some expendable items out of your inventory (not Excalibur, the Defense Sword, or the HolyLnce). If everybody seems to stay alive between the double Big Wave attacks, then make sure that Rosa casts Holy to bring the battle to an end. At that point, you will be able to claim Edge's Masamune. As if the villians that are in the Lunar Subterrane were not tough enough, the fights that are in the crystalline lunar core are like a nightmare. You wil frequently encounter EvilMask, and it will cast Wall on itself or on the party. This will make the battle even more difficult, because casting Cure spells on your allies will heal the EvilMask. Allow your characters to be killed, which will get rid of the Wall spell, ad have Rosa cast Life2 on them. Make sure that Bahamut gets some action in in a use regular attacks in order to defeat the EvilMask. Behemoths will also be frequently encountered in the lower levels of the core. Make sure that you defeat them as fast as possible. You will also encounter triple Red Dragons. The other ones will not be able to fit on the screen, but trust me, they are there. Make sure that you use Edge's Flood spell, and target Rydia's Ice3 spell on multiple opponents to make this fight easier. on Basement Floor 11, there will be the most challenging fights. These will mainly have some semi-boss creatures called Mind, and Breath. They will be reporting to Zemus (Zeromus)m and can be quite intimidating. When you are taking on the orange, Breath monster, you will have about ten rounds before it destroys you using a massive Blast attack. This will put your entire party below 10 HP. Until then, it will continue to scan your party members and do nothing else. Hit it with regular attacks, because magic will be useless against it. If you encounter a Mind monster, escape, cast Exit, or use Edge's Smoke skill to get out of the battle. The Mind will be able to cast Charm, and confuse the entire party at the same time. The next events after that is really frustrating to watch. The Breath monster will be worth the kill anyway, so do not waste any time on the Mind. When you reach the Basement Floor 12 level, you will witness a battle where Golbez (yes the same villian that you had to defeat earlier in the game) and FuSoYa defeat Zemus in a battle that looked effortless. Zeromus will go into its new spectral form, and absorbs magic spitting it right back at FuSoYa and Golbez. The party will also be Ko'ed, but thanks to your teammates back on Earth, the party will be recovered, and the last fight will be underway. Zeromus: Suggested Levels: Cecil: 67 Rosa: 66 Rydia: 64 Edge: 64 Kain: 68 This is it, the final battle. This battle will be quick and dangerousm so make sure that you are on your toes. If you want to finish the game in style, and get the much-deserved ending, then make sure that you do the following. You will need to check on your Levels to see if they are around the suggested area. This will be a key to defeating Zeromus with success. If you are not, then get ready to get taken out in about three rounds or less. Your characters will need all speed and agility that they can use. For an even easier battle, try to again about ten more levels each. Cecil will need to use the crystal on Zeromus in order to make Zeromus reveal its true form, and vulnerable to attack. Zeromus's true form will also have the Big Bang attack, which will damage your party by about 2000+ Hp, which will be a lot to overcome. There is a way to make sure that the Big Bang does not do as much damage on you. Have Edge steal the DKMatter from Zeromus. With the DKMatter in your inventory, the Big Bang's poison-like after effects will not be as harmful. Make sure that all the characters parry, and when it hits Edge's turn, try to get the DKMatter. Getting the DKMatter can be a really hard thing to get, esspecially if Edge's level is low. You will find it worth it if you are able to get it, so have patience. Whether or not the DKMatter is in your possession, have Rosa cast Shell on the entire party. Wait until Cecil gets his next turn, and use the Crystal on Zeromus to get the true form. Have Rydia ether summon Bahamut, or cast Flare, and Rosa prepare Cure4, even if Zeromus hasn't performed the Big Bang yet. Since you will not need these items after the battle anyway, have Edge throw away the high-powered weapons that are not being used like Excalibur, the Defense Sword, and the HolyLnce. Zeromus will be a counterattacking beast, which means that when you attacks him, he attacks you (Lex Talius: Eye for an Eye). It'e barrage of attacks will eventually stop if you stop your attacking. If half of your partyis decimated, and will need to be revived, then stop attacking. Zeromus might attack once or twice more, but the nice evil Lunarian will give you some time to heal, and restore fallen characters. Whenever Zeromus casts Black Hole in order to remove your protective magic, then cast Shell or Armor. Congradulations. You have defeated Zeromus, and finished the game. ----------------- 8. Secrets/Cheats ----------------- Rare Items in the World and Lunar Subterrane: Every time that you win a random battle against one of the following monsters, there will be a slim to none chance of getting an item. There is an even slimmer or none chance of actually having the item on one of these rare monsters. In order to get there, go into the Rally-ho Pub. The pub entrance will be located between the Weapon and Armor shops that are on the second floor. Once inside the pub, there will be a secret passage that will start from the bottom right wall. Go through that in order to get into the Developer's Room. The Sylph Summon and the Knife: While you are in the Underworld, go into the Sylvan Cave (as suggested in section 7.10) which is located near the Tower of Babil. Make your way through the bottom of the cave by using the Sylvan Cave part of that section. Once you are inside a small house, Yang will be resting in bed. Try to talk to Yang as well as the Sylphs. Later on, talk to Yang's Wife located in Fabul, and she will give you a Pan. Take the Pan back to the Sylphs ans use it on Yang. Talk to the Sylphs again to get the Sylph Summon. Go back to Fabul and speak with Yang's Wife once again. She will give you the Knife. You will need to visit Sylvan Cave before you can go to the Moon in order to get the Knife. If you do not want to bother with going back and forth between the Underworld and the Surface, then this will be another way to get the Sylph Summon. You will not have the Knife though, and that will be more funner to get. Go to Sylvan Cave after the Giant of Babil, and talk to the Sylphs. Yang will already be gone, and the Slyphs will still teach Rydia the Sylph Summon. Excalibur: Get the Rat Tail that is located in the Land of Summons (It will be in section 7.10). After that, go to the Mythril Village using the Hovercraft that is hooked to the Enterprise. Follow the shallows southeast to the cave. This will be the Adament Grotto. Once you are inside, walk straight and speak to a character that is in blue. Pass him the Rat Tail and you will get a piece of the Adament. Go back into the Underworld, and go south to Kokkol's Smithy. Go straight upstairs and pass Kokkol that piece of Adament that you just recieved. He will make you the Excalibur sword, however, you will need to go to the moon before it will be ready. The Adament Armor: There will be a single room in Basement 5 of the Lunar Subterrane, which is right before you go into Basement 6, where you will be able to find the Inferno Item. In this room, there will be a very slim chance that you will fight a PinkPuff. Use an Alert to try to call a PinkPuff immediately. After you defeat them, if you are really lucky, then you will get a PinkTail. Take this PinkTail to the tail collector that is in the Adament Grotto, and you will get the Adament Armor. Item Duplicaton Trick: You will need to follow these exact steps in order to duplicate any weapon or any shield. These items can be sold to get massive amounts of Gil. You can also have Edge throw them at enemies to get great damage done to them. This will work great with the items you need to throw at Zeromus to take off about 9999 HP on him. This is also a great way to counter the prices that the item shops have. 1. Equip Cecil with the Ancient Sword, which can be sold for roughly 9500 Gil. There are other weapons that will sell for more, but this will be the best choice for now. Engage in a random battle in an area where enemies will not be too tough. 2. Once it is Cecil's tuen, choose Item Command. Select an empty space that is in the inventory first, and then remove the Ancient Sword that is in Cecil's right hand. 3. Finish the battle, and open the Main Menu. Equip Cecil with the Ancient Sword once again. This time, however, it will show Cecil with two Ancient Swords in his hand. 4. Remove the two Ancient Swords from Cecil's hand again to get them separated, and then equip it right away. This time, there will only be one Ancient Sword in his hand, while the other one will be mentioned in the inventory. 5. You can stack up as many Ancient Swords as you like, up to about 99 or so. You can then trade them for about 950000 Gil. You will now be a lot financed, and you will be able to buy any armor, and items that you will need for the road ahead.
